Publik Music: New Music Channel & Music store

Remember what MTV used to be about? As in, when MTV first started and they actually had REAL MUSIC by REAL MUSICIANS on it? Well, y'all, there is a new on-demand cable channel out there with a fabulous website, called Publik Music. We are very excited to be selected as one of the featured artists on Publik music and we really support what Publik is doing for artists like ourselves and for the music industry in general. We recently traveled to Boston to film our video & interview, which is a 10 minute segment featured on the channel as well as on their website. You can either watch it on cable (Austin, Tx, is the test market and they are expanding to other areas) or go to the website. Their goal is to help expose musicians like us to music lovers (like you!) out there, who will then buy or download our cd (Publik is better than i-tunes folks, support them : ). Please take some time to check out their website and find out how you can view Publik in your area. It's very exciting and there are some great artists (Eliza Gilkyson, Hayes Carll, Sarah Borges, Cindy Bullens and many more...) on the website, so enjoy, have fun & explore!

Danielle's BBQ moment

I thought I'd be able to do the weekly writing thing... but alas, I just can't be that predictable. It's been a great Spring and I'm still filled with much inspiration after having been able to see Mary Gauthier at the Grey Eagle in Asheville, and Patty Griffin at the Orange Peel. Both of these women are examples of some of the finest writers out there and it was a true honor for us to be able to see these women around Asheville. Come back!!!

Meanwhile, we just had a great time performing at the Blue Ridge BBQ fest this past weekend. There's nothing like a good sweaty 95 degree heat smothering the precious shade combined with the smokey flavor of mass BBQ to keep you sane and grounded while performing passionate tunes of love and longing to well fed folks of the mountains. Really, it was fun -- we had a great show! These mountains are so diverse in what they have to offer and one thing I love to see is how so many different types of people can get together in one place and it is amazing how music can bring us all together, and for some, I guess BBQ... though I must admit I had a very hot sweaty tired grumpy three year old moment trying to stand in line and decide what to eat after our performance, poor Cregan had to play mom to me for a while... luckily, it worked and all is fine for us maggees. I lived, as you can see.

We've got lots of exciting news to share with y'all so stay tuned for more posts & news.

May the BBQ be with you,
(Tofu included),
Danielle
