Folk Alliance thank you's
We're back here in Asheville for a couple months, working with our agents, Shelly and Elizabeth, on booking our 2007 show dates. We'd love to get all over the country, so if you've got a request, now is the time to let us know! So far, we've got New England, the mid-west, southeast and possibly Texas in the mix.
Speaking of traveling, we recently made our first trip to Memphis, TN, where we showcased at the International Folk Alliance. That was quite an experience. Four days of musicians, folk radio dj's, music presenters, record labels, managers, and music lovers, packed into the Marriott. It was the most musical music conference I've ever been to! Not only were the conference center and the main floor of the hotel taken over by music, but the top three floors of the hotel were packed with constant music from all ends of the 'folk' spectrum. Individuals and organizations rented out the hotel rooms (beds and all) and showcased artists all afternoon and all night. If I ever thought I had performed on a small stage, this was a totally new meaning of 'small' -- performing in the 3-square-foot space between a hotel desk, the TV and a kind size bed. Can you even imagine it? And then to think that on that one hotel floor, you could walk (or squeeze) from one room to another for hours all night, seeing some of the best singer songwriters, bluegrass players and gypsy fiddlin' rockers in the world! Amazing. My highlights included The Roches (oh my god), Hammel on Trial (you've never seen anyone like him), The Luminescent Orchestrii (jaw dropping inspiration), Emily Herring (hot chick with Texas tattooed on her arm belting out original country tunes), Diana Jones (gorgeous), Rachael Sage (my sequinned doppelganger) and of course every time we got to perform. So much fun!
So, thank you, to everyone who helped us make this journey. We had a great time and can't wait for our next adventure. Specifically, our sincere thanks to: Carl Baum, Denise Mahn, Patrick Considine, Bob Donaldson, Roger Tibedo, Bill Laity, Ann Eissler, Trace Ballard, Martha Bodine, Robert Archacki
And an extra special thanks to our friend and constant supporter Susan Lachmann, producer and host of 'Women on Air,' which airs every Friday at noon-thirty on WETS.org . We love you, Susan!
Take care everyone. And thank you for reading... If you'd like to get our news in your inbox, click on the 'join' button below.
